Dear sir,
i have a 2 network cards in my windows 2003 server both have different IP Addresses.
1st network card has 192.168.0.100 (LAN IP)
2nd network card has 192.168.0.95 (wan IP)
1st network card we are using as a LAN card and 2nd networkcard we are using as a WAN card and my server name is SERVER.
when ever i say "ping SERVER" it is showing WAN IP (192.168.0.95) it should show me LAN ip (192.168.0.100).
coz of this i unable to see any computer in my "network place" server side and clinet side i can see all the in my network place except SERVER.
NOTE: It was not like before when we installed 2nd network in our server it worked fine few days and suddenly i am getting this problem after few days.
please reply me and help me out....thanks in Advance
Thanks,
Md Ismail

2 Network cards in a server2003?
If your WAN side is not on the same Ethernet switch/hub as your LAN side, then you should not make the IP the same subnet, i.e. make the WAN side something like 192.168.1.95.
If your server is actually sitting behind a router that's doing NAT and firewall for you, then the router is the one that has a WAN side and a LAN side Ethernet. If this is the case, then there is no need to have 2 Ethernet NIC on your server.
Also, if your server is hosting an Internet Domain name (xyz.com), then you should also be doing DNS server on it as any other computer on the NATed side (192.168.0.x) that's looking for xyz.com will go outside to the ISP and then come back, thus the access is then pegged at the WAN speed and not the LAN speed.
Reply:i changed the IP on WAN side i gave 192.168.1.95 it works but once i restart my server again it is taking the wan IP. Report It
Reply:The 2 cards should be in different network segments. Set th internal card and all the PCs to 192.168.1.x and both netmasks to 255.255.255.0. You will then have to arrange forwarding or proxy through the server to access the Internet, this will also add security to your internal network.
