Network controll?

my pc is the network administrator in my office network, how can I controll the network in my office for example, I want to disconnect the internet someone connected to my network?

Network controll?
Do you have permission to do this by the owner of the network? Messing around with the network can cause loss of productivity %26amp; for some crazy reason that tends to anger bosses. I wouldn't recommend you do this. If you do have permission....

This depends on how your pc is the network administrator. Is it a server? How are the other pc's connected? What type of software is being used? Every network is set up a bit differently %26amp; thus network rights are set up differently.

The easiest way is to simply remove the ethernet cable from the back of their machine.

I wouldn't recommend that you start messing around with the network settings on a sunday night. It might make for a really bad monday if you accidentally make a wrong configuration change.

I also strongly recommend your getting a good network administration how-to book before you do anything. %26amp; definitely document the current network settings %26amp; screen shot them. %26amp; document every change you do make. That way if you do make a mistake, you won't spend hours trying to find it.

From there you will be able to make the necessary changes to either your server software, firewall, or whatever it is your network uses to share internet usage.
Reply:I assume you mean the server when you say the network administrator pc.

Hopefully they didn't tell you the network login and password to give you administrative control or they may be in for a few surprises if you have no IT experience.

When I was the network administrator I had to toss people off the network from the actual server not from a pc.
Reply:You could place a filter on the specific IP or MAC of that computer, or depending on the network hardware, you could completely disallow internet connections, by allowing only network connections. ( being more specific with your hardware, I could give more details, but as it stands, that's all I can offer at the moment )
Reply:Some people have no sense of fun and humor.

Some people have children.

Others have accountant and serious network it types.

There are a couple ways to do this

You have not indicated what operating system you have on your computer that is acting as the server ( or gatekeeper of the network)

1) the easiest way would be if you have access to the router ( the device that shares the network among the users)

If it is a fairly easy standard router ( not a real commercial router like a cisco router) you could lock them out in the router by locking out the particular device by mac number ( the number on the network card)

You can get some ideas and help here:

http://portforward.com/

If you are allowed access to the router change the admin password so others cannot easily change it back

tech support of standard retail routers - linksys , dlink , belkin , netgear etc will be more than helpful

2) To cause trouble you could have some inconsistency with file sharing

as the admin you can set permission for file sharing - who is allowed access and what type ( full , read only) to certain files

They can have access to some but not others and it can change from time to time

3) Lastly as the admin you are the gatekeeper

however you have not specified the operating system and type of network

windows xp ?

windows server 2003 or 2000

linux ?
