Wireless network stuck on "acquiring network address"?

I just installed a new router using a laptop. The laptop I used to install the router is having trouble connecting to the wireless network. I also have another laptop that is working fine with the wireless network. The laptop I used to install the router gets stuck in the "acquiring network address" phase.

I would also like to know if I need to have a computer connected to the router at all times for the router to work. Or can I run all computers in the apartment through the wireless network?

you don't HAVE to have a PC connected via ethernet, you can run all wirelessly. If one works it must not be the router. make sure you don't have any static IP set in control panel %26gt; network connections %26gt; wireless %26gt; tcp/ip make sure you have the securit key and type correct, make sure the signal is good. Also make sure when your trying to connect via wireless you don't have the ethernet plugged in as well

Reply:you might have to find out if that router is able to connect with the wireless internet
Reply:on your router config enable DCHP
Reply:You should have all the machines either wirelessly or LAN cable connected to it. The router works stand-alone. If you installed any software on it for the router uninstall it, most of this just conflicts with your wireless card software.
