Second network for network hard drive?

I have dsl hooked up to a wireless router. One computer is wired to the router and two others have wireless cards. That is one network.

The two computers with the wireless cards also have regular network cards and have a network between them with a hub and a network storage drive on that network with no internet. But, when I turn on the network with the storage drive the internet turns off on the wireless but the wireless network is still hooked up.

Any ideas why the internet would shut down on the wireless network?

Second network for network hard drive?
i don't think a laptop can do an adhoc and open system network at the same time. you should have just put the network drive on the wireless network in the first place
Reply:IP subnet conflicts are the first big mistake.

Make sure the p2p hdd network addresses are not the same.. for example...

wireless: 192.168.1.0-xxx

wired: 192.168.2.0-xxx

this is usually noted as a.b.c.d, so you need to be sure that if A and B are the same, C is a different network number and of course each computer is uniquely identified by their own D.
Reply:Jay, I am working on the same sort of problem. My Dell laptop has both a wireless card and a network card. When I plug a cable into the network card my wireless connection is disabled, which is how I connect to the internet. Dell is supposed to be assisting me later today to resolve this issue. I am not holding my breath though, their support sometimes is not very helpful. In this case though if they tell me what to do to fix the problem I will relay the message back to you. Could I ask that you do the same for me? If someone should know the fix I would also like to know.

Thank you

Joe
